The National Football Museum

If you have or have ever had an interest, an inkling to keep a float of, a dalliance, a hankering or a passion for the beautiful game, then I urge you to visit the National Football Museum.
It has been housed in Manchester's rather striking and iconic Urbis building for some years now and, though I have popped in on several occasions, today after my latest visit I am happy to say I can still confirm it is a marvelous place to spend some time.

I do not want to give too much away, or to spoil the effect for anyone considering a visit, yet sufficed to say that it is a joy to behold for any footballer lover.
Well thought out, brilliantly conceived and having a unique blend of fresh creativity along with history and tradition, the National Football Museum immediately appeals to you as soon as you walk in (and come face to face with the bust of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson). The place is tailored to the local football feel, history and culture, whilst also effortlessly encompassing football at all levels on a national and indeed international scale.
Housing a dizzying array of football-related equipment, media, memorabilia and accessories, as a football fan you do not know which way to look from second to second, all the while with a huge smile on your face. My only slight niggle is that when I visited today one more floor was closed off than usual due to exhibition changes, though I suppose that has to happen sometime. It is clear that The National Football Museum is a well loved and respected institution - the feel of quality in their exhibits (both interactive and otherwise) is obvious (plus heavily supported by BBC Sport for all to see) their array of involvement within the football world is honestly and unashamedly displayed in every corner, plus any football fan will surely be sorely tempted by their shop!

Yes, I can truly say any football interests within you will surely be nurtured and inflamed when you visit the National Football Museum. The only other final thing for me to say on a personal note is - thank you to the all those involved - may your time in Manchester  be long and fulfilling in years to come!
