Hearth of the Ram: Revisited

Again, harking to way back when I reviewed the relatively new Ramsbottom gastronomic delight back in 2013 (for me waxing lyrical the first time around see my BLOG ARCHIVE) I thought I would give a quick report on my latest visit.
At the end of my last review, I said I would be regularly returning to the Hearth of the Ram as it was simply so good. Sadly I have to report that, due to other commitments and a few choice rumours I heard about the place, I only recently returned two years on. Happily however, I am pleased to report that most of the quality which I originally found so abundant has not waned in my absence.

The most noticeable immediate difference is that the Hearth of the Ram has had quite a modification and extension. This has been tastefully done, and in theory is in order to support the many patrons attending, though on the occasion in question there were a mere handful of diners; this rendered the atmosphere (whilst still clinging to cozy yet crisp) slightly lacking and a bit empty inside.
One thing that was not lacking happily, was the distinct design, delivery and deilciousness of the food. Whilst the menu read like it was perhaps attempting undue delusions of grandeur, it still contained great dishes, and my personal lunch of a bavette of Scottish beef was beautiful to look at and simply sublime to eat.
Pair this with the still present friendly and attentive service and I am happy to report that the Hearth of the Ram is still a great place to dine. I only hope that it is not overreaching itself too much, so it remains for some time to come.
